Brazilian Travel to the U.S.
Brazil is the No. 5 overseas origin market for international travelers to the U.S. with 193,113 Brazilian visitors a 33.8% YTD growth in the first quarter of 2010. In 2009, total of 892,611 Brazilian visitors visited the U.S. with a growth of 16% from 2008 (OTTI).
Brazil is one of the fastest growing outbound markets in the world and is bound to expand with a population of 190 million and economic stability. The average Brazilian U.S. traveler is a repeat visitor, stays at least two weeks, and spends about $3,500 per trip (USDOC/ITA).
ABAV
ABAV is considered the major event of the Latin American travel and tourism industry. The Brazilian Association of Travel Agents has organized the ABAV event for 34 years, including the ABAV Exhibition and the Brazilian Travel Agencies Congress. The event stands as the largest annual travel trade fair of its kind in North and South America.
ABAV 2009 attracted roughly 27,000 industry professionals from South America alone, whose primary objective was to secure business opportunities and commercial alliances. Over 1,000 exhibitors from the travel and tourism industries were also present. |
